Maher Sports was delighted to host the inaugural awards presentation of the 2009 Season of Seandun (City Division) Under –Age GAA Hurling and Football awards.

This was held in our Maylor Street Store yesterday evening 17th February.

We were delighted to have in attendance Shane O, Neill the Vice Captain of Cork Hurling team.
He is an inspiration to all young people involved with sports, he spoke very well on the night with sound advice and encouragement for all the award winners.

Maher Sports are proud to be the Sponsors of the Seandun league and championship. We acknowledge the high standard, commitment and hard work of the players and mentors, we feel privileged to be involved with Seandun and we sincerely wish the Bord all the best for the 2010 Season.

125th Anniversary Tournament

The following are some pictures taken by Rory Noonan of the Evening Echo, at the recent finals of a tournament organised by Bord na nOg to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the GAA.
Rory ensures the young hurlers and footballers get great coverage in the local newspaper each week, many thanks Rory.

I had the privilege of attending these finals and was amazed by the standard of U-13 hurling in Cork, the future is bright for Cork hurling.

Obviously great matches need 2 teams and in Section 2 Kiltha Og played their part to make for a very entertaining match.
In the Section 1 final Na Piarsaigh were the runners up and again they played a very good game and were unlucky to come out the wrong side of a very close encounter.
